Commodore Anderson named ICOYC President
RNZYS Commodore Andy Anderson has been appointed the new President of the International Council of Yacht Clubs.
Andy Anderson’s Message to ICOYC
Sailing is our passion, the sea is forever in our sight. The reason to join with like-minded individuals and belong to yacht clubs builds on this love for the sport and the ocean. When we join together with clubs from around the world and share our stories it is powerful, relevant and provides knowledge for us to act. I’m incredibly excited about the tremendous opportunities ahead to help grow the sport through the recognition of the ICOYC around the globe and how we can play our small part.
It’s a privilege indeed to represent ICOYC as President and to work with a first class board of directors, clubs, committee members and individuals. Together we can share and provide tangible benefits with even great optimism for the clubs. I’m very keen to hear your views about the issues facing our sport in your clubs. A key will be collaboration between individuals and clubs, so I welcome your participation to contribute to ICOYC. A great place to act on this is by registering early for the next Forum in September 2016 – act now!
On a final note, a very big thank you to John McNeill, our past president, for steering us through the last few years with enthusiasm, courage and convincing direction. I very much look forward to John’s continued involvement and ceremonial handover at Copenhagen. His hard work and booming rally calls for support are heard, now we must all act.
Hope to meet many of you in Copenhagen at the Forum. It will be a blast!
