Crusader Yachting lining up at the 47th Rolex Fastnet Race this weekend

Crusader Yachting (RNZYS), skippered by Anthony Leighs, will be lining up with over 400 other entrants on the start line of the 47th edition of the Rolex Fastnet Race this Sunday (Monday NZT).

Crusader Yachting is an Elliott 35ss and has had some very successful results in offshore races, including:

The Transpac – Fastest Yacht Under 36ft,
Auckland to Tauranga  – Line honours & 1st PHRF
Groupama Round New Caledonia Race – Line Honours &  Race Record
NZ Central Triangle – Line Honours, 1st PHRF 1st IRC.
Coastal Classic 2012 – Line Honours Race Record Yachts Under 40ft & Under 35ft

The famous 605nm Rolex Fastnet Race begins at the iconic Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes, heading out of the Solent, around Land’s End, across the Celtic Sea, before rounding the Fastnet Rock and Bishops Rock en route to the finish line off Plymouth. The race has a rich history and has taken place biennially since 1925. This year see’s a record fleet that includes entries from over 27 countries.

The entrants also include the new fleet of Volvo Ocean Race teams: Team AkzoNobel (Simeon Tienpont), Clean Seas (Dee Caffari), Dongfeng (Charles Caudrelier), Mapfre (Xabi Fernandez), Sun Hung Kai Scallywag (David Witt), Team Brunel (Bouwe Bekking), and Vestas (Charlie Enright).
