Knots Racing Win Oakcliff International Grand Slam event

RNZYS Performance Programme Team Knots Racing helmed by Nick Egnot Johnson have won the Oakcliff International, the 3rd event of the US Grand Slam Sailing Series which was held in New York.

The team – including (left to right) Graeme Sutherland, Sam Barnett, Bradley McLaughlin and Zak Merton – beat out local American Match Racing stalwart Dave Perry 3-2 in an epic final.

The road to the final was very impressive too, with Knots Racing finishing in 2nd spot after the double round robin before going on to beat Canadian Peter Wickwire 3-0 in their quarterfinal and then taking down Swede Anna Östling Kjellberg 3-1.

Knots Racing also recently finished 3rd at the Detroit Cup at the Bayview Yacht Club in Detroit.

The team now have a strong chance to win the Grand Slam when they head to the Final event of the Grand Slam, the Thompson Cup which also held in New York from the 12th – 15th September.
