RNZYS Youth Team 4th at Governor's Cup

The final day of Governor's Cup, the weather was light again all day but the sun came out as the haze burnt of in our last few races.
The Newport Harbour team chose to race against the British team in the semi's which left us to sail the Australian team.

The first race we entered early and got a penality, we had a good start and had good boat speed on the wind which put us in the lead, on the final beat we thought we had enough of a lead to fit in our penalty but unfortunately we didn't and had to follow the Aussies around the top mark and couldn't get the lead back.Race 2 of the semi's we had a good match until half way up the second beat when we got some weed around the rudder and we fell of the pace with them and they ended up beating us by quite a bit.

Two losses put us out of the running for the finals so we ended up racing the British for 3rd place.
We went down 2-0 after two close races, which put us in 4th overall.
The team sailed really well the whole regatta and we came away with a lot learnt!
