RNZYS Lion Foundation Youth Training Programme Report

Report from Guy Pilkington, Youth Training Manager.

The past few months have seen current and past members of the Youth Training Programme competing in prestigious match racing events both in New Zealand and overseas. Adrian Short’s victory at the Hardy Cup in Sydney was definitely one of our latest highlights putting on a great performance in Australian waters, outsailing some of the regatta favourites. The current Youth Programme skipper of Boat 10 (Boating New Zealand Magazine) is now set to represent New Zealand at the Nation’s Cup in Brazil.
The BMW regatta which was run from the 20-22 February was another chance for Youth Programme members to compete in bigger boats, with William Tiller at the helm of the Young 88 Sister Moonshine. The young crew did well to finish up third in their division. Once again thanks must be given to David Stanton for his ongoing support of the Youth Programme in providing his boat to be used in such regattas.
