Five graduates head to Europe for the Spanish Open

Report from skipper William Tiller 27 May 2010, Greetings from Full Metal Jacket Racing in Spain.  After a long trip we have arrived in Spain for the Spanish Open, a Grade 1 event. These are exciting times for FMJ as this is our first time racing against some of the world’s best match racers. We look forward to the challenge of the racing over the next week as it will give us a very good guide as to where we are and what we need to work on in the next two months.

FMJ current results

Since the win in the Warren Jones, FMJ has been competing in both match racing and fleet racing regattas with some encouraging results.
·         2nd Youth International
·         2nd BMW New Zealand Final
·         1st Platu Summer Series
·         2nd Y88 Nationals
·         1st MRX Nationals
·         1st Lion Cup
In between these regattas we have been going to the gym regularly to get our team up to weight and going out training as much as possible on the young 88 Skitzo thanks to Rick and the MRX’s.
After the Spanish Open we are heading straight to our next regatta the Korea Match Cup Qualifier. We are then returning home to continue our training before heading to America for four regattas building up to the Danish Open.
We would like to thank our principal sponsor, Chris Meads from Full Metal Jacket. Thanks to SLAM and The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.
Stay Tuned,
FMJ Racing
