Report from Cameron Thorpe, HARD LABOUR 2010 was the 25th Farr 1020 Nationals. With 10 entries, including a crew from Wellington, it looked like there would be some great racing. Favourites included multiple past champion Grant Turnbull returning to the class and skippering Rainbow IV, defending champ Phil Yuill back with his team on Max Headroom, Joe Brownlee’s Shokran with Alan Gywer as tactician hoping to go one better than previous bests of 2nd as well as Steve Barton’s Hard Labour as the class benchmark and keen to avenge their narrow loss in 2009.  Read the full report here

2009 Regatta: This two-day regatta was held on 4th & 5th April 2009 and sailed in the waters between St Heliers, Browns Island and Rangitoto. Conditions for the weekend were excellent, ideal for the eight windward/leeward races.  The Farr 1020's attracted a field of ten entries, five Farr 11.6's raced in their division and eight Farr MRX's contested their division.
2009 Results: Farr 1020's: 1st Max Headroom, Philip Yuill & Ross Ardern BBYC; 2nd Hard Labour, Cameron Thorpe RNZYS; 3rd Azure, Peter Strathdee RNZYS.
Farr 11.6: 1st Warringa, Scott Grayson RNZYS; 2nd Acclaim, Sam Bethell RYC; 3rd Grand Larceny, Alan Bilkey RNZYS.
Farr MRX: 1st Touch Of Gloss, Phil Douglas DYC; 2nd Hall Spars, Cameron Dunn PBC; 3rd Harken, William Tiller and the RNZYS Youth Training Programme crew.
