RNZYS 150 Great Barrier Island Members Cruise – Entry OPEN
The RNZYS has a plethora of great events for our members during our 150th year, with some of the best members events happening over the New Year holiday period. This includes a New Year’s Eve Race to Kawau (31st December 2021), New Year’s Eve Celebration (31st December 2021) at Kawau Boating Club, and the Kawau Boating Club New Year’s Day Race (1st January 2021).
Following on from these we have the Great Barrier Island Members Cruise 3rd – 6th January 2021, which we are encouraging all RNZYS Members and Boat Owners to get involved in and enter now!
The cruise will begin with a briefing at Kawau on the 2nd of January as well as some other activities TBC, before the fleet of cruisers departs to Great Barrier on Sunday 3rd January 2021.
This is a great opportunity for Members, who may not have taken their boats to the Great Barrier Island before, to join a friendly group of Members who have cruised there plenty of times and can show the way. If you have been to the Barrier before, we also encourage you to join us for what will be a beautiful few days away at what is the true cruising treasure of the Hauraki Gulf.
For those who haven’t travelled to the Barrier before, we will have plenty of ‘motherships’ with experienced Barrier cruisers who can guide you along the way.
Once at the Barrier, we have plenty of great activities lined up, including:
- Walks on the Island (Mt Hobson, Glenfern Sanctuary etc)
- Casual Fishing Competition
- Raft ups
- Drinks ashore
- Combined Dinners
- Exploring hidden gems around the Island
- Spot prizes
- More TBC
The cruise is open to ALL RNZYS Boat Owners and is also for Yachts and Launches.
After three nights at the Barrier the official cruise will come to end, but it is up to you whether you would like to stay on with some of your cruising comrades or head to another destination of your choice.
A full itinerary will be released in the coming weeks, but for now entry is open, with a small fee of $50 required to confirm entry. We hope to see you there for what is going to be a fantastic three nights away in paradise!
