A new look RNZYS Performance Programme KNOTS Racing Team are gearing up for the 2019 Youth World Match Racing Championships at the Gubernskiy Yacht Club in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

The team consists of Nick Egnot-Johnson (RNZYS PP KNOTS Racing), Taylor Balogh (RNZYS PP Pacific Racing Team), Celia Willison (RNZYS PP Edge Women’s Match) and Alastair Gifford (RNZYS PP KNOTS Racing).

The team arrived in Russia a few days ago, and have just had their first day of training in the Ricochet-747 keelboats.

Speaking right after their first training session, Egnot-Johnson was pretty happy with how the new look team went –

“We had a really good first day training. Sailed in super light winds on the pond but managed to get a few hours of good training in against the Australian team. We have another two days of training where we will look to nail our boat handling before the regatta starts on Tuesday!”

The regatta will run from the 12th – 17th August and will consist of a Round Robin, Semi Finals, Petit Final and Final. Thirteen teams will contest for the title.

Keep and eye on our Facebook Page, Instagram and Website for updates from the teams quest to be crowned 2019 youth world match racing champions.

The 2020 Youth Worlds will be held at the RNZYS in February.
