Nick Egnot-Johnson and his RNZYS Performance Programme KNOTS Racing Team are into the Semi-Finals at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadrons Hardy Cup.

After two round robins the team finished at the top of the pile with a very impressive 17-3 record, and then went on the face Australian William Sargent in their Quarterfinal which they took out 3-1.

The team are now ready for what is going to be a great finals day on Sydney Harbour.

Speaking from Sydney, Egnot-Johnson described what they will be up against when finals racing gets underway today – “It’s looking like it’s gonna be a competitive semi finals today as there are three other strong teams to compete with. The conditions are really shifty so we’re just gonna keep a calm head state and chip away at it one race at a time. The weather is so nice here, we haven’t seen it rain once so it’s going to be another hot day on the water and hopefully we can bring the Cup home for the RNZYS!”

RNZYS YTP skipper Patrick Harris also made the Quarterfinals after finishing the round robin in 5th place. Harris and his YTP team then had an epic Quarterfinal with American Chris Weis, but unfortunately went down in the final match, losing 3-2.

Australians Finn Tapper and James Hodgson are the other two Semifinalists.
