THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING – KNOTS RACING MOVE INTO 2ND IN THE WORLD

In Match Racing, News, Performance Programme

Nick Egnot Johnson and his RNZYS Performance Programme KNOTS Racing team have now moved up to 2nd on the World Match Racing Rankings.

As has been widely reported, the team have had an incredibly successful year, and that success has continued of late during their Northern Hemisphere summer swing tour – with wins at the German Match Cup, OM International, and Governor’s Cup, as well as 2nd place finishes at the Youth Worlds, Thompson Cup and Oakcliff International.

The team are now the second best match racers in the world and only sit behind stalwart match racer Ian Williams in the World Sailing Open Match Race Rankings.

Egnot-Johnson is really proud of what he and the team have achieved, and when we spoke to him this morning (NZT) he was in New York celebrating the teams latest achievement –

“I’m so stoked with this latest ranking for the team. We have been sailing at a lot of events and putting a hell of a lot of effort in to our match racing. To now be recognised as the second best team in the world, I’m almost speechless. I’m really proud of how we have grown as a team and improved in all areas of our sailing. We’ve had some great results and I know we can keep improving and keep pushing to get better and better. A big thanks to the RNZYS and RNZYS Performance Programme for supporting us and giving us the platform to succeed. We’re really looking forward to coming home now and racing at the nationals!”

The next event for KNOTS Racing is the Yachting Developments NZ Match Racing Championship at the RNZYS October 2nd – 6th.

Join us at the RNZYS on Tuesday 15th October for our free KNOTS Racing Speakers Series Event where you can hear directly from the team! More event information here: www.facebook.com/events/2471311532892030/
